We are anxious.
We are insecure.
We fear failure.
We fear rejection.
We deal with shame, grief, and sadness.
We are selfish, self-seeking, prideful, hurtful, arrogant, and sometimes straight up cruel.
We numb ourselves through addictive behavior and patterns that we don’t even notice.
We harbor secrets that we dare not tell.
We express ourselves through our personality, but in reality our personality is just another distraction from people seeing the real us.
But life happens.
Circumstances, disappointments, rejections, trauma, and unexpected failure causes cracks in the masks that we’ve shown people.
Our facades and personality no longer distract or hide from the truth of who we really are.
We are vulnerable.
Naked.
Exposed.
But we feel alive.
Free.
Relieved.
It is here that we realize, we are only human.
It is here that we realize, we need companionship and community.
It is here that we realize, we crave transparency, vulnerability, and honesty.
It is here that we realize, we need courage to admit our brokenness.
It is here that we realize, we are imperfect people who are in need of a perfect God.
And somehow, someway, the pattern repeats itself.
Everything we go through, points us back to why we need a perfect God.
